Studio oskar zieta works to develop production methods which utilize new engineering techniques and innovative technology to realize a range of furniture and architectural forms; but which can also generate endless possibilities for development and usage. most notably, the polish designer is behind the invention of FiDU technology which is a process which allows for the inflation of metal sheets into 3D forms. the impetus behind his latest innovation was the USM haller modular system, whose mane element is a chrome-plated brass ball joint, connected by steel tubes to form a greater framework of coated metal panels, allowing a number of customized configurations.
His resulting 3+ technology offers a flexible production process-- it does not employ prefabricated sandwich plates, but rather the studio's own manufactured shapes which are based on a composition of two thin customized metal sheets--available in three different sizes. a computer is used to control the development of the objects, each one CNC machined into a one-of-a-kind piece which can be adjusted according to individual needs.
Designer Jet Ong from Shengzen, China posted this Alcatel concept phone on Behance. It runs on windows mobile and it has a usb build in in the flip cover. The phone and flip cover are put together and the device is really thin. In my opinion the design really looks like nokia newest phones. This is just a concept so it doesn't look like this phone will be revealed at any time soon.
This is so cool. A turntable made out of a slice of solid wood. The 'audiowood barky turntable' by joel scilley merges two disparate materials in one coherent design for a classier vinyl experience.

the design is handmade in the US and is outfitted with a premotech motor and a rega tonearm.

How does the 3D Mouse Ring work?

Adrian Maciburko came up with his own concept for a Google watch, called Google Time. This watch is super minimal and has been designed to fit Google’s minimalistic style. The concept includes voice search, Google Places, the weather, Google+ and a calendar.

The HTC One will be available in a choice of silver or black starting in the latter half of March. Of course people are hating the fact that there is no micro-SD slot and no removable battery. I am telling you it really is not a big deal since I have been dealing with that the past year with my One X.
HoverBar hangs iPad beside your Mac, letting you use iPad as a secondary, touchscreen computer. As the designer puts it, since most photos taken now are snapshot only a few controls are needed. And since most photos are now snapshots done with phone cameras it seems logical to put this technology to good use.

Previously known as iSuppli, and widely known for its so-called “teardown” analysis reports, IHS has just completed its teardown report on the Apple’s newest iteration of the tablet. The verdict: The base model, a Wi-Fi-only 16 gigabyte iPad mini, which sells for a starting retail price of $329, costs about $188 to build. Adding additional memory — the options are 32GB and 64GB — adds only incremental cost but a fair amount of profit, amounting to an additional $90 for the 32GB version and $162 per unit on the 64GB model. (I revised this paragraph. See my note below.)
Aside from the cost of materials — known in industry lingo as a Bill of Materials (BOM) — the teardown also revealed the identities of several key suppliers on the latest device. The most visible component is the 7.9-inch touch-sensitive display.
LG Display and AU Optronics were found to have supplied the display components. Parts related to the display cost about $80, or about 43 percent of the total BOM. The screen uses a new technology known as GF2 that allows the overall display to be thinner than on previous generations. Andrew Rassweiler, an IHS analyst and head of the company’s teardown team, says that the new technology is proving somewhat problematic to manufacture, which is, for the moment, driving costs on the display up. But as kinks in the manufacturing process are worked out, those costs will come down.

This unique wrist watch is an absolute looker. The striking feature of the Ziiro watch is the absence of hands! One has to look at the whirling circles on the dial to be able to tell the time! The tip of the inner swirl will tell you the current hour whereas the outer swirl stands for the minutes. This watch design fits the definition of out-of-box better than most other models!

At the end of 2010 London based-designer Andy Martin was asked by THONET to design and develop a concept road bicycle using their steam bending process developed in the 1930s. Andy Martin Studio developed three designs of which the final was selected because its beauty and modest connection with the heritage of the company. Andy says 'The challenge was to take on fairly low tech process of steam bending and then apply it to a 21st-century bicycle with highly complex engineering.' With the many restrictions of hand bending the beech frame the final jointing and contours would be cut and adjusted on a cnc machine. Andy Martin has also developed a series of connectors and sprung rods to reinforce joints and the major stress areas in the frame.
As some of you may have guessed from the images, it's a fixed-gear, which the press release duly declares to be "the tradition of cycling: one has a greater connection to the bike and the surface one rides on." Curiously enough, they also note that it has no brakes and "several interchangeable gear ratios"—implying that the Thonet Bike is indeed rideable.
At $2,900 (£1800), the HED H3 carbon wheelset pictured in the renderings denoted by the press release would typically be upwards of 20–30% of the total cost of a high-end track bike... but they're practically a bargain on this build: the limited edition Thonet bike will be available for £43,000 ($70,000).

From the Portland, Oregon-based design studio New, comes a portable Bluetooth speaker solution for computers, laptops, tablets, and even smartphones. The Zooka speaker is made of durable silicone and produces sound that is five times the volume of built-in speakers of the previously mentioned devices.
Currently the firm is raising funds via Kickstarter in order to launch the product. Although the project has more than surpassed the fundraising goal, there is more time left to kick in some extra funds before the March 19th deadline.
